When I first started in Dominion’s Technical Solutions department 5 years ago, our team only had 5 members. With Dominion’s success, today we have tripled in size and my department is 15 members strong, and the company as a whole has grown by over 25 members. There have been many changes in roles and structure but one thing remains the same – developing a quality product in a timely manner. To maintain this level of effectiveness, we have increased our communication internally as well as externally. Whether it’s a daily scrum meeting, weekly department meeting, or quick planning session – everyone is aware of what is being worked on in order to reach our team goals.
Keeping everyone informed requires a good structure for communication. This is pronounced not only in our department but across the entire organization. From the top down, every group is made aware of our accomplishments and keeps a keen eye for distractions that may start to creep in.
