How to Boost Employee Morale During the Holidays

The holiday season tends to be full of treats and baked goods everywhere we turn, with the office being no exception. While a nice warm plate of cookies is a great way to boost the mood of the office, it is not the only way to get morale up during the stressful holiday season. If you’re looking to get spirits up this holiday season you can do so in several different ways. 

Tis’ the Season To Give Back

Nothing is more inspiring than giving back to your community, especially when you’re doing so with your fellow colleagues. Every year at Dominion, we get 16 hours of paid volunteer time off, allowing us to volunteer together while still earning our normal wages. This allows people who would not otherwise interact to work together and get to know one another while also doing something meaningful. What could be better than that?

Get Everyone Involved

There are so many ways to get your employees involved during the holidays; whether you’re decorating the office as a team, hosting a holiday potluck, or doing secret Santa, there is something for everyone. Depending on your industry, the holiday season can be very hectic, so any relief from that craziness will be well appreciated and well deserved by your employees. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, after all, so you might as well have a little fun with it.

Donate, Donate, Donate

Nothing brings people together quite like giving back, and even though I mentioned volunteering already, sometimes it is just not a feasible option for your office. A great alternative to volunteering is a canned food drive or even a toy drive. Every year at Dominion we collect toys for Toys for Tots. Employees can either bring in a toy to donate, or they can donate a monetary amount and a designated member of our team will do the shopping for them.
