Technology, as we all know, advances more and more each day. With new technologies, hackers are coming up with innovative ways to invade and intrude computer systems. With that being said, it is more important than ever to be prepared and ready for any type of attempted attack. Many companies simply do not want to put the money towards increased security and have the “it won’t happen to us” mentality; until it is too late.
So your company may raise the question, “how much do we allocate for security?” To be honest, there is no real answer to this question. You first need to look at what type of systems you have to protect, what kind of data, and what a security breach would mean to your organization if data and systems were compromised. I recommend starting from the ground up; prioritize the systems within your company. Analyze the system with the least impact to the business, to the most detrimental, and then look at how you can secure those systems. Remember, you not only have to secure your systems internally, but on the perimeter as well as security threats can come from both sides.
Here at Dominion, we know what our system and its data means to our customers, and we know what to protect. Do you?
